Description
I’ve recently moved from California to Congleton with my husband, who is originally from Manchester. Among other things, we wanted to be closer to his parents who are getting on in years. But I’m also a lifelong Anglophile and I love this area of the UK with its mix of gorgeous countryside, local shops, and remarkable history. I’ve also fallen in love with the friendly and dedicated people of Congleton, so many of whom have made me feel welcome here.
I became involved with the KISS group when I met Carol Braniff and Lesley Richards at the 2008 Careers Exhibition. I was preparing to look for a part-time job and had gone for advice on interviewing techniques and assembling a CV, but I also mentioned that I’d be happy to put my 25 years of administration experience to work helping out as a volunteer. I was invited to the following KISS meeting, and have been taking the minutes for the meetings since December 2008.
In addition to my work with the KISS group I also volunteer at the Congleton Museum, where I can indulge my passion for old, dusty books. I’m also enjoying being a housewife, spending time in my first real English garden, and exploring all the nooks and crannies of the local area.
And I’m still looking for a part-time job!
